Skolar Terms of Use

Welcome to Skolar! These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Skolar mobile application and related services (the "App" or "Services") provided by Skolar, LLC ("Skolar," "we," "our," or "us"). By using Skolar, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Eligibility
- You must be at least 13 years old to use Skolar.
- If you are under the age of 18, you represent that you have obtained parental or guardian consent.
- By creating an account, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and complete.
2. Accounts & Security
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and all activity under your account.
- You agree not to share your account with others or use the account of another person.
- You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
3. Subscriptions & Payments
- Skolar offers both free and paid subscription plans.
- Paid subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and are subject to their respective payment terms.
- Subscription renewals occur automatically unless canceled through your App Store or Play Store account settings before the renewal date.
- Refunds are managed by Apple or Google, not Skolar.
- Skolar reserves the right to change pricing, subscription tiers, or features at any time, with reasonable notice to users.
4. User Content
- You retain ownership of all notes, flashcards, lecture recordings, and other study materials you upload or create ("User Content").
- By uploading User Content, you grant Skolar a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to store, process, and display it for the purpose of providing the Services.
- You are solely responsible for ensuring that your User Content does not infringe on the rights of others or violate applicable laws.
- Skolar does not claim ownership over your educational content.
5. AI-Powered Features
- Skolar provides features such as AI-generated notes, flashcards, summaries, and research tools ("AI Features").
- AI outputs may not always be accurate, complete, or reliable. They are intended as study aids and should not replace your own academic work or professional advice.
- You agree that Skolar is not responsible for any errors, omissions, or consequences resulting from reliance on AI-generated content.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the App for unlawful purposes or in violation of applicable laws.
- Upload harmful, infringing, or offensive content.
- Attempt to interfere with or disrupt the App, servers, or networks.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or copy any part of the App.
- Share, resell, or misuse Skolar's Services for commercial purposes without permission.
7. Intellectual Property
- The App, including its software, design, logos, trademarks, and all related content (excluding User Content), are owned by Skolar, LLC and protected under intellectual property laws.
- You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use Skolar for personal, educational purposes only.
8. Termination
- You may stop using Skolar at any time by deleting your account.
- We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or misuse the Services.
- Upon termination, your right to use the App will end, but certain provisions (e.g., disclaimers, limitation of liability) will survive.
9. Disclaimers
- Skolar is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind.
- We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free operation, or that the Services will meet your needs.
- AI Features are experimental and may generate inaccurate or inappropriate results.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- Skolar, LLC and its affiliates will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App.
- Our total liability for any claim related to the App will not exceed the amount you paid (if any) for the Services in the 12 months before the claim arose.
11. Privacy
Your use of Skolar is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
12. Changes to the Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of Skolar after changes are posted means you agree to the updated Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
